Pastor Tim P. Blaisure – 12/19/21 – Christmas Message

Have you ever wondered what it took for Mary (the mother of Jesus) to be chosen? God does not look for extraordinary people He is looking for surrendered people. Those who just want to do what the Lord says no matter how ridiculous it may sound. This is what we can see with Mary.

The Lord has been calling people to follow His Word since the beginning of creation. Some have rejected His Word. Others started obeying only to washout before they finished. Then there are those who question everything God has said. But it is with the few that listen with their hearts and are fully submitted to the Word of God who have allowed God to do extraordinary things through them, Christmas is about two of them; Mary and Jesus the Son of God.

Foundation Scriptures:

Luke 1:28-38 KJV

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore, also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

It wasn’t that Mary didn’t have any questions for the angel, because she said: “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?”

God looks at the heart and not at what we have accomplished. He is looking for individuals who like Mary say, “Be it unto me according to thy word.” When was the last time the Lord put something in your heart to do? Only then you questioned your way out of it.

Luke 1:37-38 NLT

37 For the word of God will never fail.”

38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

A. Nothing is impossible when the Lord says it.

B. The Word of God will never fail.

C. When the promise you were given lines up with God’s Word.

D. The Word of God will change your future forever.

A. Being the Lord’s servant includes total surrender to His will.

B. Questions are not wrong, but doubt is.

C. Accepting His Word at face value.

D. Taking the Lord’s instructions and expect them to come to pass.

Luke 2:5-7

He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child.

6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born.

7 She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.

Mary’s life changed forever as she accepted the roll of Mother to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jesus life changed forever as He left all of heaven and became a little baby and one day give His life for all humankind.
