MANAGING MONEY AND POSSESIONS GODS WAY

Pastor Tim P Blaisure – 10/02/22 – Evening Message

Intro:

It is one thing to have money and possessions in this life. But to keep them with faith in the One who gave them to us in the first place is another thing altogether.

We are to become good managers of what God has given to us and to look to the creator and not to the creation for our confidence.

If we will manage what God has provided with His wisdom and direction fear and worry won’t have a place in our lives.

Let’s look at what Jesus said about these things that people are working so hard to keep.

Foundation Scriptures:

Luke 12:22-34 NLT

Teaching about Money and Possessions

“Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear.

23 For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.

24 Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!

25 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

26 And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?

27 “Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.

28 And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

29 And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.

30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.

31 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.

32 “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.

33 “Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.

34 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

I. WORRY AND FEAR DON’T ADD TO YOUR LIFE BUT THEY TAKEAWAY FROM YOUR LIFE:

· “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear.

23 For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.

29 And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.

30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs.

A. Unbelievers are concerned about:

1. Food 2. Clothing 3. Housing

Because they don’t have Kingdom connections.

(God’s - Promises, Principles & Provisions)

B. Unbelievers live in constant worry and fear.

C. We as Believers should stay away from worry and fear because we have the Kingdom connection through Jesus Christ.

II. IT GIVES GOD GREAT HAPPINESS TO GIVE US HIS KINGDOM:

· Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!

29 “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.

32 “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.

A. God loves and takes care of even the smallest things that He has created.

B. We are made in the very image of God and so to Him we are of even more importance, He even put Adam over everything else.

C. Part of the Kingdom of God is Provision! Here in this life and our eternal life.

III. THE ANSWER IS TO SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD:

· 31 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.

A. Above all else seek the Kingdom of God – His way of doing things here on earth and in Heaven.

B. Instead of fear and worry we are to give to others in need, as we look to those who are worse off than us we will be amazed how we will never be in want here on this earth.

C. Remember the Believer is part of something bigger. We are a part of God’s kingdom, and some day will rule and reign with Him.

Conclusion:

2 Timothy 2:10-12

“So, I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen.

11 This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. 12 If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us.”

Revelation 1:5-7 KJV

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
