THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE

Pastor Tim P. Blaisure – 5/15/22 – Morning Message

Intro:

In this life it is so easy to get caught up with yourself and the pleasures and pressures that we experience each day. Life can become very overwhelming on it’s own. Especially when the bills are pilling up and we are just trying to survive. We are working and striving to provide or find food, clothing, and a place to have a roof and be safe from the problems that are all around us.

God’s Word has the answer for each and everything, the question is do we want what the Word has or the way we want things to be?

Foundation Scriptures:

Matthew 6:19-34 NLT

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.

20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.

21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

22 “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.

23 But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!

24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,

29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.

30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’

32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

I. PARABLE OF THE HIDDEN TREASURE: Matthew 13:44 NLT

44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

A. Kingdom of Heaven is like a hidden treasure you find.

B. Kingdom of Heaven is excellent and of great value.

C. Kingdom of Heaven is worth selling everything else to obtain.

II. PARABLE OF THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE: Matthew 13:45

45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls.

46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!

A. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant (deals with trades) looking for the best.

B. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a pearl of great price.

C. The Kingdom of Heaven is worth selling all to have.

III. PARABLE OF THE FISHING NET: Matthew 13:47-50

47 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and caught fish of every kind.

48 When the net was full, they dragged it up onto the shore, sat down, and sorted the good fish into crates, but threw the bad ones away.

49 That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous,

50 throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

A. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and caught fish of every kind.

B. The Kingdom of Heaven is like sorted the good from the bad.

C. The Kingdom of Heaven is like putting the good fish into crates and keeping them.

CONCLUSION:

“That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous,

50 throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

The Kingdom of God is all about finding Jesus Christ and the way our Father in Heaven does things here on the earth and Heaven.

God’s way is the way of finding (God the Father, God the son Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit) who is the Great Treasure, Pearl of Great Price, and we are the fish who are caught. Are you a good fish or a bad fish? Will you be separated to enter Heaven or thrown away into eternal destruction?
