stor Tim P. Blaisure – 11/12/23 – Morning Message
Intro:
We have learned over the last few weeks that:
1. Waiting Time is not wasted Time.
2. Studying Time is not wasted Time.
3. Praying Time is not wasted time.
4. Praising Time is not wasted time.
5. Memorizing Time is not wasted time.
6. Family Time is not wasted Time.
7. Today: Believing Time is not wasted Time.
UNBELIEF – absent of faith – refusing to believe in God and His Word.
BELIEVING – Accept (something) as true and to hold to as true.
It takes the same amount of time to not believe something as to believe something.
In actuality, those who don’t believe in God spend more time trying to prove there is no God than those who believe there is a God.
Why do some doubt everything until they see it?
Why do others have faith to make sure they take time to believe in a God they cannot see?
We will answer these questions through the Word of God today.
Foundation Scriptures:
John 1:12 NLT
“But TO ALL WHO BELIEVED HIM AND ACCEPTED HIM, he gave the right to become children of God.”
John 3:15-16
“So that EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.”
John 20:30-31
“The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book.
31 But these are written so that you MAY CONTINUE TO BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE MESSIAH, THE SON OF GOD, and that BY BELIEVING IN HIM you will HAVE LIFE BY THE POWER OF HIS NAME.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.
4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
I. FAITH IS NEEDED TO BELIEVE GOD AND ALL HE SAID:
Genesis 15:5-7
“Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
6 And ABRAM BELIEVED THE LORD, AND THE LORD COUNTED HIM AS RIGHTEOUS BECAUSE OF HIS FAITH.
7 Then the Lord told him, “I am the Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as your possession.”
Romans 10:16-18
“But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
17 So FAITH comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
18 But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have:
“THE MESSAGE HAS GONE THROUGHOUT THE EARTH, AND THE WORDS TO ALL THE WORLD.”
A. Faith Comes from hearing the truth.
B. Believing comes from FAITH in the truth.
C. Believing Time changes lives now.
D. Believing Time changes lives in the future and brings promises to life.
II. BELIEVING TIME IS MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN DOUBTING TIME:
Matthew 21:20-22
“The disciples were amazed when they saw this and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”
21 Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, IF YOU HAVE FAITH AND DON’T DOUBT, YOU CAN DO THINGS LIKE THIS AND MUCH MORE. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.
22 You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”
Colossians 1:22-23
“Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
23 But YOU MUST CONTINUE TO BELIEVE THIS TRUTH AND STAND FIRMLY IN IT. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.
A. Believing Time is vital in a real relationship with Jesus.
B. Believe like a child and the Lord will take imagination and bring it to life.
C. Believing in the past life, death, resurrection, and soon return of Jesus keeps you in a fresh relationship with Jesus and not religion.
D. Believing time brings you into a strong productive future and keeps you looking and not falling back into a life of dullness and a lack of excitement.
Conclusion:
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe that He died for my sins according to the Scriptures. I believe that He was raised from the dead for my justification; that is, that I might be set right with God. I believe in my heart that I am the righteousness of God. I am made right with God through what Jesus did.
