FROM THE INSIDE OUT

BECOMING SANCTIFIED

Pastor Tim P. Blaisure – 01/08/23 – Morning Message

Intro:

There are perceptions that people have, that steer us away from the Lord Jesus and the true desire in our lives.

One, kind of person thinks that they have to change themselves before they can be accepted by the Lord - they figure it is too hard, so they stop trying and don't pursue the Lord.

Second, believes that once I give my life to the Lord I can just keep on sinning, once saved always saved and I don't have to become any different than I used to be I'm saved from eternal destruction.

Third, believes they got saved but now I have to work out my own salvation with fear in trembling. They take this as a constant confession, condemnation and this is not what God wants.

The Lord wants us to know the truth, so that the complete truth of Jesus Christ might be abundant in all our lives through Him by grace and not buy our works.

This is sanctification from the inside out. We are washed by the blood of Jesus, cleansed, justified, and sanctified all through the Truth - He is the Truth and the way.

Sanctified- Set apart for a sacred purpose or use (cleansed, washed, purified)

Sanctification - Act of sanctifying growing in divine grace a result of Christian commitment after salvation. How are we sanctified?

From the inside out?

Foundation Scriptures:

Hebrews 10:10-22

“For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.

11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins.

12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet.

14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.

15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,

16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

17 Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”

18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.

20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.

21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house,

22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

I. SANCTIFIED BY FAITH:

FAITH – Complete trust or confidence in Jesus Christ as our Savior.

Strong belief in God based on a spiritual relationship rather than sight.

Acts 26:18 NLT

“To open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.”

II. SANCTIFIED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT:

Holy Spirit – The third person of the Godhead who does what the Father says to do, He is the action part of God.

Romans 15:16 NKJV

“That I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”

III. SANCTIFIED IN CHRIST JESUS:

Jesus Christ – is the Son of God and is the one who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for all humankind, and rose from the dead, and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father. He came as a Lamb and will come again as the Lion of Juda.

1 Corinthians 1:2 / 6:11 NKJV

“To the church of God, which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:”

IV. SANCTIFIED BY THE WORD OF GOD & PRAYER

Word of God – Is the spoken and written Words of God, the truth and life and they will never change.

Prayer – Is our way of communicating to God with thankfulness, partitions, desires, and having a personal relationship with Him.

1 Timothy 4:4-5

“For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;

5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”

V. SANCTIFIED THROUGH THE OFFERING OF CHRIST AS OUR SACRIFICE ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Sacrifice of Jesus – paid the price for all sin and made a way for us to become son’s and daughters of the Almighty God. He sanctified us through the blood of Jesus and the power of the blood is consistently washing us from the stains of sin in this life.

Hebrews 10:8-11

Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law),

9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second.

10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.”

Conclusion:

Being set a part for the Lord starts from the inside out. Jesu has paid the price for our wholeness in spirit, soul, and body.

This kind of Sanctification does not come from the outside in. We are changed by Faith, Jesus blood, forgiveness, through Christ, prayer, and the Word of God. He gave it all for us. What will you give to Him?
