Intro:
Without the birth of Jesus, we would all still be under the Law of Moses today. But God our Father had mercy on all mankind and sent Jesus as a baby to show all humankind who God the Father is and how much He loves us and wants the best for us. That through Jesus our lives can be different and our futures full of hope.
Foundation Scriptures:
John 3:16-17 KJV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
Luke 4:17-18 KJV
“And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
I. JESUS WAS BORN TO GIVE THE POOR GOOD NEWS:
A. Good news was you don’t have to stay poor.
B. Jesus gave the poor the Word of God that destroys poverty.
C. Jesus gave the poor instructions on how to live, give!
II. JESUS WAS BORN TO HEAL THE BROKEN HEARTED:
A. The Good News of healing comes through Jesus.
B. His heart would be broken so ours could be healed.
C. Many reasons for a broken heart but Jesus heals them all.
III. JESUS WAS BORN TO FREE THE CAPTIVES:
A. Jesus frees all those who will hear and receive His message.
B. There are physical, spiritual, mental, emotional captives, and the list goes on.
C. Only through Jesus is there true freedom from captivity.
IV. JESUS WAS BORN TO OPEN BLINDED EYES:
A. One of the signs that Jesus is the Son of God is that He opens the eyes of the blind.
B. We know that there is physical blindness.
C. There is also spiritual blindness that Jesus opens their eyes.
V. JESUS WAS BORN TO FREE THE BRUSIED:
A. Jesus was bruised for our iniquities.
B. There is an inner bruising that Jesus frees us from.
C. And there is an outer bruising that Jesus frees us from.
Conclusion:
Isaiah 35:4-6
“Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.”
We live in the time where we can look back at the birth of Jesus and see how the prophecies about Him came true. Because they are true then we can be confident today that we also have our Salvation through Jesus and the benefits of the Living Word of God and the freedom from Poverty, a broken heart, freedom from any kind of slavery, sight from spiritual and physical blindness, liberty from inner and outer hurts that have been caused by circumstances or people.
It is your choice today to receive what Jesus has for you. That is the reason He was born.
