TRUE OR FALSE ACCUSATIONS

FALSE ACCUSATIONS

Pastor Tim P. Blaisure – 8/20/23 – Morning Message

Intro:

Some day you will be falsely accused if it hasn’t happened already.

Should we try to prove ourselves truthful?

Should we fight back and accuse them?

The Bible gives us some examples of those who have been falsely accused and what they did. We also have one who is always accusing us of sin every day.

What are we to do? Let’s see!

Foundation Scriptures

Genesis 39:10-23 NLT

10 She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.

11 One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work.

12 She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, “Come on, sleep with me!” Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.

13 When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled,

14 she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running. “Look!” she said. “My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed.

15 When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.”

16 She kept the cloak with her until her husband came home.

17 Then she told him her story. “That Hebrew slave you’ve brought into our house tried to come in and fool around with me,” she said.

18 “But when I screamed, he ran outside, leaving his cloak with me!”

I. THE RESULTS OF A FALSE ACCUSATION: - Joseph Put in Prison

19 Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her.

20 So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained.

21 But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.

22 Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison.

23 The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.

II. WHAT WE ARE TO DO AND NOT DO IF ACCUSED:

Luke 3:13-14

“He replied, “Collect no more taxes than the government requires.”

14 “What should we do?” asked some soldiers.

John replied, “Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay.”

Acts 7:56-60 - Stephen

56 And he told them, “Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand!”

57 Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They rushed at him

58 and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul.

59 As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

60 He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.

III. JESUS ALSO WAS ACCUSED FALSLEY:

John 18:28-38

Jesus’ Trial before Pilate

“Jesus’ trial before Caiaphas ended in the early hours of the morning. Then he was taken to the headquarters of the Roman governor. His accusers didn’t go inside because it would defile them, and they wouldn’t be allowed to celebrate the Passover.

29 So Pilate, the governor, went out to them and asked, “What is your charge against this man?”

30 “We wouldn’t have handed him over to you if he weren’t a criminal!” they retorted.

31 “Then take him away and judge him by your own law,” Pilate told them.

“Only the Romans are permitted to execute someone,” the Jewish leaders replied.

32 (This fulfilled Jesus’ prediction about the way he would die.)

33 Then Pilate went back into his headquarters and called for Jesus to be brought to him. “Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked him.

34 Jesus replied, “Is this your own question, or did others tell you about me?”

35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate retorted. “Your own people and their leading priests brought you to me for trial. Why? What have you done?”

36 Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”

37 Pilate said, “So you are a king?”

Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.”

38 “What is truth?” Pilate asked. Then he went out again to the people and told them, “He is not guilty of any crime.”

Conclusion:

Revelation 12:10

“Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,

“It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night.”

PRAYER OF TRUTH

Father, we ask that your truth will win out in the midst of being falsely accused in these matters that I am facing. Just like you did for Joseph, Let your favor and positioning me in the right place at the right time to get the right results and that You would receive the glory for it all.

PRAYER OF SALVATION Lord Jesus, I believe that you died for my sins, was raised from the dead so that all my sins would be forgiven and paid for. I receive all that you have for me, live in me, and help me follow you with all my heart.

PRAYER OF HEALING I thank you Lord Jesus that by your stripes I am healed: Physically, Spiritually, Mentally, Emotionally, Financially, and Socially. I bind the curse of sickness, disease and loose the blessing of healing into my life.
